PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU PROJECT

The spirit of the Tamil New Year allows us to reflect, to grow and set a positive change, not only on an individual basis but also on the basis of community. This desire to grow and bring about a genuine and lasting difference in the world is a very strong component of the UKTSU philosophy.

The recent project this Tamil New Year, at Pudukuduirippu, Mullaithivu, to provide stationary and tuition fees to 10 families with children who are orphaned or only have single parents , was an excellent example of combining parts of the UKTSU philosophy and this spirit of the Tamil New Year to deliver something that is life-changing. This event was organised by former GS for Mullativu, Megananthasivam. The funds to deliver this project were raised by the 10k run that was recently done at Greenwich. The fundraising event acts as a very relevant example of how constructive and inspirational we can be when we come to work together towards a worthy cause. It acts as an example of how Tamil students and citizens in the UK, joining to participate in a team effort, can have a positive impact the lives of Tamil students in Sri Lanka. Let’s keep this trend of compassion and community going, because team work truly does make the dream work.
